The team can help employers identify economic development resources that may avert or minimize any employee layoffs. Rapid Response identifies resources and services for businesses and their employees affected by downsizing due to company restructuring, closure or relocation.

If layoffs or closures are needed, team members help employers orient their workers to the safety net of support services that can help them make the transition from losing a job to getting a new one. When a plant closure is necessary, Rapid Response can work with the business to help its workers make transitions to new jobs. The services are free to both employers and employees.

The Rapid Response team consists of professionals versed in everything from economic development to unemployment benefits. If the team is asked to appear at your workplace, you can expect it to include representatives from Rapid Response, the Job & Career Centers, the Employment Development Department, the Consumer Credit Counseling Service, the state Department of Labor and more.
